100 Hours of Astronomy seeks partners
The 100 Hours of Astronomy Cornerstone Project is seeking partners for the biggest event of the International Year of Astronomy 2009! Do you know an organization or individual who would like to be a part of 100 Hours of Astronomy? Sponsors are sought to support the coordination of the many programs that are being developed worldwide. Who might be interested in this opportunity to be a part of the biggest event of IYA2009? Telescope and camera dealers, IT companies, science centers, any organzation who can benefit from the PR of being an important part of IYA2009. 100 Hours of Astronomy will have an important legacy as well with archived material supporting future education and outreach programs and more events beyond IYA2009 building on the success of this worldwide event. What is available?
- Logo on the web site through the event and beyond (the webcasts and uploads will be archived and available throughout IYA2009). Prominent logo placement now and guaranteed presence on the site at least in the footer once major sponsors come on board -- just 2000 USD.
- Greater exposure is available at various levels (negotiable).
- Major sponsorship status available for 50,000 USD.
Major sponsors will have many opportunities for prominent exposure.
- Very high traffic on the web site during the 100 Hours and beyond.
- Major events such as the Opening Event at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia featuring Galileo's telescope, a major media event that will also be webcast
- More events around the world to be announced.
- Cooperation with other Cornerstone Projects for increased exposure in many communities.
Now is the time! The new web site will go live very soon and events registration will begin, publicity will increase and web traffic will grow. Coordination staff is being hired. New Coordinator
I am very pleased to announce that Jennie McCormick of Auckland, New Zealand has joined us as the coordinator of the 100 Hours of Astronomy IYA2009 cornerstone project. Jennie brings experience from the astronomy, educational outreach and business communities. She is already the co-coordinator for the 100 Hours of Astronomy in New Zealand so she knows the project well. Information pack
A new information pack is now available for the 100 Hours of Astronomy cornerstone project. The pack is available on the IYA2009 site. Go to: http://www.astronomy2009.org/resources/documents/detail/IYA2009_doc_100ha_Dec08/ There is a link to a PDF of the document in the right-hand column. Acrobat Reader is necessary to be able to read this document. The information pack and other resources will also be available on the new 100 Hours of Astronomy web site that is currently under development. The new web site will include more information, continuing updates and more. The new site will be launched before January 1.
