Creating and using short links is fairly straight forward (once you know how :) ) . If replying to a post, don't use the "Quick Reply" option, it doesn't have the features needed.
Open the page that you want to point/link to and copy the URL from the address bar

In the Message area, type whatever text you want.

Highlight the word you want people to click on.

In the "Boardcode" bar, click the "URL" button.

Your highlighted word will now be wrapped up by 2 sets of square brackets. In the set on the left, type "=" just before the closing bracket like this [url=], and press "ctrl+v" on keyboard. The address you copied earlier should now be pasted in place.

Under the "Message" area, click preview. You should now see a nice neat sentence without any long confusing links
